WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE. GO TO OUR "SCHEDULE" TAB FOR A COMPLETE LIST OF RUSH EVENTS!

Welcome. Relax.  Don’t be nervous!  Don’t say that you “can’t sing” or that you “can’t do improv.”  Some of us did theater or music before college, some of us did not. Members of JAW are from all different backgrounds and participate in a wide variety of activities from athletics and acting to education and politics.

We audition each fall for our new tap class, but before then, we have a few shows and workshops where you can check us out. Our workshops are a super low-stress and non-judgmental environment to learn and practice the fundamentals of improv. So whether you’re a seasoned improviser or a total newbie, join us for a workshop!  See a show! And if four years of laughing with fun-loving friends and traveling all over the country doesn’t sound unbearably oppressive, come to one of our audition slots.

Shows
The best way to get a sense of Just Add Water's style is to see us perform. Come check out our Recruitment Show, where you'll see us do a full set of short-form and long-form games topped off with a fully improvised musical. To see all four improv groups and get a sense of our unique styles, check out the Improvaganza, where every Yale improv group will do a short set. Come early because Just Add Water is up first and the room fills up fast!

Improv Workshops
Workshops are a really fun way to try your hand at improv with literally nothing to lose. You'll learn the basic tenets of scenework and play some games. If you plan on auditioning, workshops are a really great way to get a sense for what the audition process will be like. They don't count towards auditions, we're not taking attendance, so come check it out!

Improv Auditions
There are five slots for auditions. Choose one of the slots and just show up! There is absolutely nothing you need to prepare or bring with you. If you've been to the workshops, auditions won't be much different. Give it a shot - we'd love to see you!

This year's slots are:

Sunday, Sept. 10th: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Monday, September 11th: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, and 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Choose one and come on down!

Rehearsals
We rehearse twice a week, generally on Mondays and Wednesdays, for two hours each evening. This is when we work on our skills - it’s work, but it’s also fun. If only writing papers also involved laughing with your friends!

On-Campus Shows
We perform on campus about four times per semester. Some are standard shows, like at Family Weekend, and others are themed, like at Valentine's Day. There are no special rehearsals before shows, because, you know, it's improv.

Off-Campus Shows
We also perform off campus several times each semester, bringing the magic of made-up comedy to locations from high schools and retirement homes to hospitals and private venues.

Tours
Twice a year during winter break and spring break, we go on a week-long, partially subsidized tour. Our tours mix business and pleasure; that is, we do shows and workshops at all types of venues, but we're also on vacation with our awesome, funny friends. Who loves tour? JAW loves tour! Past tour locations include Chicago, Austin, New Orleans, Boston, Los Angeles, Florida, South Carolina, San Diego, San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Hawaii.

Hanging Out, Generally
Just Add Water is a professional troupe, but beyond that, we're a group of friends. JAWbies are awesome in all different ways, and being in the group lets you get to know people you otherwise wouldn't necessarily meet. We love getting together for food, seeing each other's shows, playing video games, and doing all sorts of things outside of rehearsal. Joining Just Add Water means joining a family!
